focus on emerging economies such as india. suzuki has been selling mostly small cars in the u.s. since 1985. the company's annual sales there peaked in 2007 when they sold more than 100,000 units. but the recession following the 2008 collapse of lehman brothers was a blow to suzuki. the stronger yen also made the situation worse. annual sales for last years plummeted to 27,000 units. suzuki spokespersons say they'll continue selling vehicles in hawaii while only offering motorcycles and marine engines in the rest of the country. >>> here is what's happening on the markets. let's first take a look at europe. stocks are trading high as you see on your screens. investors are waiting for the results of the u.s. presidential election which has just started. london shares, ftse up by .5%. the dax is up by .55%. in paris, the cac 40 is up by about .7%. meanwhile asian stocks are mixed on tuesday. in in tokyo the nikkei average closed below the key 9,000 level for the first time in three trading days ending at 8,975, down about .4%. australia's s&p asx 200 rose a quarter percent after the cent

regions of india are dealing with heavy rain. mayo show gee joins us with the latest. >> this is due to the influence of the cyclonic storm which has made landfall. let me show you a video coming up from these regions. wednesday evening it made landfall and reported a maximum wind speed of 75 alcohol tears per hour error you can see those trees really swaying. the good news is that there's no significant damage that has been reported related from this storm system. but schools and colleges will be closed in the surrounding areas throughout your thursday. if we can pull back i can show you this storm will be moving inland as a deep depression. it has downgraded already. but the rainfall accumulation is going to be some staggering amounts the next few days, probably about 200 millimeters on top what was we have already been seeing in and around this area, more than 100 millimeterth in the past 24 hours has been falling. so the ground is very, very loose. any kind of additional rain fall could trigger flash flooding and further landslides across east regions. the wind, gale force winds, ar

of six regional partners including japan, china, and india joined them at the summit. they issued a joint kmun ka that said they hope to reach agreement by the end of 2015. leader from japan, china, and south korea agreed to start talking on a free trade agreement of their own. they said they would put aside the territorial disputes between japan and the two other nations. japanese officials want to ease restrictions to give them more access to their neighbor's economies. chinese and south korean officials have already begun talks on a free trade deal between their countries. now negotiators involved in discussions for another free trade zone in the asia pacific say they hope to conclude an agreement by the end of next year. they're trying to strike a deal for what's known as the trance pacific partnership or tpp. leaders of seven of the 11 countries discussing the u.s. life led on the sidelines of the east asia summit. the negotiators wanted to conclude a deal by the end of this year, but they couldn't agree on how to eliminate tariffs and they're still divided on other issues such

working its way off here towards the north. but around bangladesh and eastern india, going into the early part of next week, you'll be wanting to watch this. going to be some heavy rainfall coming out of it. as far as temperatures, though, hong kong with a high of 22 on your saturday, chongqing at 20, minus 6 in ulan bator, and over here towards tokyo, getting down to 15. but once again, going into sunday, even monday, it is going to be getting much chillier than that, highs only going to be around 10 degrees. over towards the americas, high pressure is dominating. what that means, big capping dome here of clear skies is on tap. some cool temperatures, but it's going to be fairly nice here going through your weekend. across the west coast, though, not so much the case. we have a few pacific storm systems pushing onshore here bringing with it some heavy rainfall, reducing visibilities out across the areas. if you're flying out of vancouver, seattle, even san francisco, check your flights out ahead of time. they could be delayed or canceled. and then farther inland, skiers are going t

ministers of japan and india are meeting this week to strengthen economic cooperation and security ties. they'll exchange a memorandum to ensure the stable export of indian rare earth minerals to japan. the indian prime minister will make a four mif day visit to japan from thursday. it's part of the annual summit meeting between the two countries. he and japanese prime minister noda are expected to agree on the export of rare earth minerals to japan every year. currently japan depends on xworlts from china, but the chinese government is trying to divorce fi the sources. on other matters the two leaders are expected to agree to strengthen security cooperation. japan's maritime self-defense force and india's navy conducted their first joint drill in june. noda will ask singh to aadopt the bullet railway system for an indian project to connect cities. >>> a magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit central myanmar killing four people. the u.s. jigeological survey sa the quake occurred on sunday. it says the epicenter was about 110 kilometers north of manda y mandalay, the second largest city. it was ne
